Ventnor Botanic Gardens

You can easily while away a few hours at Ventnor Botanic Gardens and all for the price of your parking. Take a picnic to enjoy on the lawns in the shade of exotic trees, or head for the huge fields with picnic benches and a children’s play area, and there’s ample room for a game of frisbee or rounders. You can wander around the Botanics whisking your senses between gardens inspired by the Far East, the Mediterranean and New Zealand. You can take a moment to watch the fish in the tea room garden pond over a cup of tea or head down the steps to the quaint little Steephill Cove for an ice cream or fresh crab and lobster sandwiches when they are in season. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for the special little Wall Lizards, the best place to spot these creatures are warm rock surfaces. Gift to Nature installed a dry-stone wall to encourage the population in Ventnor – find this near the car park above the temperate house. If you are feeling energetic follow the Lizard Walk along the coast to the town and then back through Ventnor Gardens.
