Gift to Nature has started winter conservation work on two Island bogs. This work is funded by the Environment Agency.
This winter’s bog work is under way. The cows were very interested and just hours after clearing they were getting in and having a good rummage around. This is actually part of the essential process of expanding the bog. First we carefully clear away the scrub and then the cows poach the ground, leaving space for the seeds stored safely in the soil to germinate. All of the bog conservation work this year has been funded by the Environment Agency.
